Mountain Thyme Honey & Gifts
I’ve been purchasing honey for myself and others since last August. I’m a big tea drinker so this is the perfect compliment to my nightly routine or enjoyed with some of my favorite appetizers. Sarah was kind enough to share the history behind her company along with some products you should try!
The History Behind the Business
My husband and I moved to a log cabin in the mountains of SW Virginia in the Fall of 2016. I knew I wanted to name the property, and the creeping Thyme that grows all over our patio inspired me to name it, Mountain Thyme. After almost thirty years in Northern Virginia, I was so happy to have such a wonderful opportunity to live in the country and become a beekeeper. By April of 2018, I had taken a beginner beekeeping course and had my first hive of bees. Two years later, I had (and still have) six hives and was elected to serve as the President of the Botetourt Beekeepers Association. The world of beekeeping is fascinating, and the longer I’m involved in it, the more I realize I don’t know. There is just so much to learn. The COVID pandemic has inspired me to learn more about apitherapy and share what I’m learning to help others.
Where Does the Name Come From?
My love for mountains and the abundant supply of creeping Thyme on our property.
What is Your Favorite Product?
I think my favorite would be the Propolis tincture because I find Propolis so intriguing. I’m also quite fond of my bee butters!
